Finn Balor injury update: WWE Universal Champion to have shoulder surgery?
By Jack Crosby
Finn Balor was indeed injured on Sunday night at SummerSlam and the injury might be a bad one at the worst time
Sunday night at WWE SummerSlam, history was made as Finn Balor became the first-ever WWE Universal Champion when he defeated Seth Rollins in Brooklyn. Being on the main roster for only about a month, Balor has made one of the bigger impacts that we have ever seen from a newcomer.
However, as Sunday turned into Monday, reports started to surface that Balor may have suffered an injury in the match with Rollins. It was reportedly a shoulder injury, but nothing was really confirmed.
With just a few hours until RAW takes place from Brooklyn, though, we now have some confirmation from the company. According to this announcement from WWE.com, Balor did suffer an injury to his right shoulder following a powerbomb to the barricade that he took from the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Rollins. If you get a chance to watch the spot back, you can certainly see how Balor could have been injured taking the move.

Balor will be looked over some more and the next steps will be considered, which could include surgery which would keep the champ out for a number of weeks, obviously.
But it was pretty apparent to people who saw Balor after the event that he was not in the best shape.
This is just the worst news at literally the worst possible time. Since coming up to the main roster following a successful stint in NXT, Balor has done nothing but show why there is so much hype surrounding him.
Hopefully this is something that can be taken care of as swiftly as possible so the “Demon King” can get back to entertaining us in the ring.
