Brent Burns surprised kids from Barrie with brand new CCM hockey sticks.
The hockey world has fallen in love with San Jose Sharks defenseman Brent Burns. He is an excellent player and he has a lovable personality. His epic beard and gap-toothed grin endear him to the hockey community. Burns is more than just a great defenseman, though. He’s also a great person. Burns showed that by surprising some kids from his hometown, Barrie, with some new CCM hockey sticks.
"We took @Burnzie88 to his hometown rink and gave a young team a “revolutionary” surprise! #RBZRevolutionhttps://t.co/T1N0EmRCOE— CCM Hockey (@CCMHockey) August 18, 2016"
CCM sponsors Burns and allows him to do some pretty great things. This is definitely one of those. Not only did Burns surprise the local kids with some new hockey sticks, he also gave them the opportunity to skate with him. It’s hard to tell who has more fun in the video — the kids or Burns.

Burns is making it hard to root against him. He’s a very generous guy who is extremely fun to watch on the ice. The fact that he looks like Chewbacca from Star Wars is simply icing on the cake.
After being named a Norris Trophy finalist last season, Burns will look to further improve his numbers. Burns had his best season as a pro during the 2015-16 season with 75 points in 82 games. He finished third in the Norris Trophy voting behind Erik Karlsson and winner Drew Doughty. The Sharks made the Stanley Cup Finals in large part because of Burns. He added 24 points in the playoffs, including seven goals.
Burns’ improvement can be credited to his hard work. It can also be credited to head coach Peter DeBoer for helping him develop as a defenseman. Playing alongside Paul Martin certainly helped, too. Martin is very good defensively and being paired with Martin allowed Burns to be more aggressive in the offensive zone.
