Jay Gruden, little brother of former NFL head coach Jon Gruden, is entering his third year as the head coach of the Washington Redskins. Little Gruden had a mildly successful college career as a quarterback for the Louisville Cardinals from 1985-1988, which he parlayed into a stint in the Arena Football League.
Interesting factoid: Jay Gruden was the MVP of the Arena Football League in 1992.
Gruden became the head coach of the Washington Redskins in 2014, leading the team to a dismal 4-12 season, which led many to believe that he would be fired. However, he turned things around in 2015 (with the help of Kirk Cousins) to the tune of a 9-7 record and the team’s first playoff appearance since 2012.
I want to have a beer with the whole Gruden family. I mean, what a cast of characters that is. But I’ll settle for a pint with Jay to hear what he has to say about benching RGIII in favor of the gun-slinging Cousins.
