Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott decided to check out a legal recreational weed shop while in Seattle.
Dallas Cowboys rookie Ezekiel Elliott will make his debut on Thursday night against the Seattle Seahawks. There are “high” hopes for the new Cowboys running back and ahead of his preseason debut, he decided to tour the Seattle attractions. That included the legal weed shop “Herban Legend.”
The TMZ website reported on Thursday that Elliott stopped by the Belltown shop, which is located near the landmark Space Needle. Sources told TMZ that the Cowboys rookie didn’t make any purchases in the store. However, he posed for photos with fans outside the shop and didn’t seem to hide the fact he was there.
Washington is one of a handful of states in the U.S. where marijuana is currently legal for recreational use. Other states include Colorado, Oregon, Alaska and the District of Columbia. While NFL players can purchase the drug, they are also tested for the use of it. Therefore, use of the drug can result in a suspension for a player if it turns up during testing.
There’s speculation that several more states will be legalizing the drug. However, Texas is not on that short list. It’s not currently a state that prescribes the drug for medicinal purposes but will begin allowing dispensaries to issue it in 2017 for certain ailments. Elliott had been coming off an injury during training camp but seems ready to go for tonight’s preseason game against the Seahawks.

In another recent sports story, UFC fighter Nate Diaz was puffing on a EBD oil “vape pen” during a post-fight press conference. That raised suspicion over drug use and has USADA launching an investigation. It’s unknown if Elliott just being in a weed shop would launch an investigation by the league, but it seems he was simply looking around.
