Tony Romo was hit hard on the third play of Thursday night’s preseason game in Seattle, and the Dallas Cowboys quarterback was forced to leave the game.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was taken out of Thursday night’s preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. He was only planning on staying in the game for a pair of drives, but was hit hard on the third play of the game.

Cliff Avril hit Romo from behind, after he slid to the field. Romo was in the pocket longer than he should’ve been, and slid to escape being sacked. He appeared to not know where Avril was, and took a bad landing.

Romo walked off the field on his own power, after being attended to by team doctors and putting some fear into the entire city of Dallas. It may be just a preseason game, but this is definitely not what this team wants to see at any point in time.

Romo was seen on the sidelines trying to get back into the game, but head coach Jason Garrett slammed the door on that idea and sent rookie Dak Prescott in to resume duties at the quarterback position.

While the injury didn’t immediately appear to be overly serious, you can bet the Cowboys will take every precaution over the next couple of weeks.

Generally, most starters on a team will not play the final preseason game. Assuming he’s not seriously injured, this will allow Romo to recover and get ready for their Sept. 11 season opener against the New York Giants.
