New WWE rumors have hinted that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and his movie co-star, Vin Diesel, are setting up a WrestleMania 33 match.
Will The Rock and Vin Diesel be battling at next year’s WrestleMania 33? If there’s any truth to the recent WWE rumor going around about the two Fast 8 stars, it could happen.
A recent Life & Style Mag report indicates there was some heat between the two stars on the of Fast 8. The Rock, whose real name is Dwayne Johnson, posted an interesting Instagram video clip with a long message. That helped send the rumor mill into overdrive.
In the post (seen below), Johnson calls out some of his male co-stars. He notes that “some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t.” Rock even goes on to use one of his catch phrases “candy asses” in reference to whomever he’s discussing.

While there has been speculation that Rock and Diesel aren’t getting along, an inside source says otherwise. The Life & Style mag claims to have been told by an insider that “they are playing a huge prank, and it’s all for publicity.” Whether or not that indicates a match is another question. Those usually get set up during WWE’s on-air TV programs or pay-per-views.
Diesel has never actually stepped into the wrestling ring. He does have the frame of a pro wrestler, but his in-ring abilities would probably take some work. He’s also got something to promote as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set for a May 2017 release. That falls a month or so after WrestleMania 33.
Actor Stephen Amell of Arrow appeared in the ring during a WWE pay-per-view. He was on the winning side of a match against Stardust and King Barrett. Some felt Amell’s ring performance was fine, while others want the actors to stay at ringside and not in the ring.

So the Vin Diesel rumor is still to be confirmed. He wouldn’t be the only “Diesel” on the WrestleMania 33 card either. A match between The Big Show and Shaquille O’Neal, aka “Shaq Diesel”, is also on the card. It could be a high-powered, diesel-fueled event in Orlando next year.
