Bears quarterback Connor Shaw suffered a gruesome broken leg injury on Saturday against the Chiefs

The Chicago Bears and Kansas City Chiefs are playing on Saturday in more NFL preseason action, and we learned once again that Connor Shaw really has the worst luck in the world when it comes to injuries, both in college and the NFL now.

Late in the fourth quarter of this one on Saturday afternoon, Shaw was in there closing out the game for the Bears, he dropped back to pass and that’s when the injury took place. Although he was able to get the pass completed, he was hit to the turf and he wasn’t getting back up, as he suffered the broken leg and needed to be carted off the field.

You can watch video of the injury below.

Just a brutal injury for a young man that is trying to find a roster spot with the Bears. Shaw was picked up by the team back in July and he was fighting for one of the spots behind Jay Cutler and Brian Hoyer, and now it looks as if that dream might be dead.

However, the news might be all that bad for Shaw with this injury. If there is no ligament damage, there is a chance that the former South Carolina star could be back on the field this season.

Still, though, you have to feel for someone like Shaw who has been dealing with nagging injuries since his days in Columbia for Steve Spurrier and the Gamecocks. It seemed as if he was always banged up, yet found a way to fight through it whenever he could to lead South Carolina to wins. Then, last year as a member of the Cleveland Browns, he tore ligaments in his thumb and missed a good majority of time.

Hopefully, Shaw can make a quick recovery from this, get back on the field and finally stay injury free.
