Minor league baseball game delayed by sheep (Video)

There are many things that can delay a minor league baseball game, but usually, a sheep is not one of them.

There really is nothing like minor league baseball. Each season, the weirdest stories come out of these small towns that play host to the future of the Major Leagues. On Friday, another odd story was added to the long list to the craziness that is the minors.

In a game that pitted the State College Spikes versus the Batavia Muckdogs, one of the sheep from the monkey rodeo act at the ballpark got loose. The loose sheep caused a two-minute rain delay, but it is the hilarity of the moment that will not be lost on the fans.

Just last week, a pipe burst caused a geyser of human waste to delay a minor league game in West Virginia. Just another day in the life of minor league ballplayers, who cut their teeth in small towns across America trying to earn their shot at the big leagues.

If anything else, these players will have some funny stories to tell for years to come.

The last time an animal of this variety has interrupted a game in the Major Leagues, it ended up setting the Chicago Cubs back a hundred years or so. Since the “Curse of the Billy Goat,” in 1945, it seems the Cubbies have been under a bad sign. They have not won a World Series since 1908, and despite some great opportunities to do so, appear cursed.

The Cubs have a pretty solid team in 2016, as they are currently the favorite to represent the National League in the World Series. Incredibly, the year a sheep interrupts a minor league game in Pennsylvania, could be the year Chicago finally wins a World Series.

Oh, minor league baseball, how we love thee.
