Jimmy Fallon showed up to the VMAs as Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps really got a kick out of it

When it comes to award shows, people always try to incorporate current events in some form or fashion. With the Olympics in Rio just coming to an end, without question there are few stories in the world right now that are more well-known than US swimmer Ryan Lochte fabricating a story about getting robbed.

Aside from a lot of people being reasonably pissed off at him for making the United States look inept, a lot of people are just having a good time making fun of Lochte for his latest bout with stupidity because, let’s be honest, it’s just easy to make fun of Ryan Lochte; this is something that we’ve known for years now.

So with the MTV VMAs taking place on Sunday night, you knew that they might try to incorporate the Lochte story in somehow. They did just that, with Jimmy Fallon coming out in full Lochte costume, and it was pretty hilarious.

You know who also got a pretty good kick out of it? That was Michael Phelps, who just so happened to be in attendance.

I mean, can you really blame him? He of all people must know just how great and easy it is to make fun of Lochte, who just keeps giving everyone a reason to poke fun at him. It’s his own fault, but he just stays doing it.

Still, though, the reaction of Phelps is downright priceless. Not only was he out there at the VMAs to give Future some props and let us all know what song he was listening to when he put on his infamous scowl, but he got a chance to see probably the best Ryan Lochte impersonation ever.
