Colin Kaepernick is not gelling in Chip Kelly’s San Francisco 49ers offense this preseason. Here are five NFL teams that could help revitalize his career.

While he has made headlines this past weekend for refusing to rise for the playing of the national anthem, it might be his poor play at quarterback that might have Colin Kaepernick worried. Friday night’s preseason loss to the Green Bay Packers ensured that Kaepernick will not beat out Blaine Gabbert for the starting quarterback job Week 1 for the San Francisco 49ers.

This was Kaepernick’s first preseason game of 2016. He completed 2-of-6 passes for 14 yards in limited action on Friday night. The former breakout star of the 2012 NFC champion 49ers may soon be out of a job, not for his political stance, but for his inability to grasp new head coach Chip Kelly’s up-tempo offense.

Kaepernick could be cut by the 49ers as soon as this week. Kelly may opt to go with veteran Christian Ponder as Gabbert’s Week 1 backup with rookie Jeff Driskel on the practice squad as the No. 3 quarterback.

It seems that Kaepernick’s time with the 49ers is coming to an end. While he might be too toxic for NFL general managers to consider signing in early September, here are five other organizations that might be capable of helping Kaepernick revitalize his once-promising NFL career.
