The tensions have been rising, but Iron Man and Captain Marvel are about to trade punches and energy blasts.
If there wasnāt any hero on hero violence in Marvelās Civil War II, it would Ā be a poorly named event. Maybe theyād call it Strenuous Disagreement or Marvelās Difference of Opinion.
But nope, the title implies that thereās going to be fisticuffs, and in Civil War II #5, weāre going to see what to this point is the main event. On one side, Iron Man, arguing against the use of āpredictive justice.ā On the other, Captain Marvel, leader of the faction or Marvel heroes who believes the future can be changed for the better.
Both heroes have their reasons for their views, but the recent death of Bruce Banner, ex-Incredible Hulk, has made emotions bubble even closer to the surface than before. Hereās just a brief preview of the issue and the awesome art by David Marquez and Justin Ponsor:

Youāll notice that Iron Man probably has the higher profile squad overall, what with both Captains America (Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson), Thor and Doctor Strange. The Guardians of the Galaxy are standing with Captain Marvel though, along with Black Panther and a bunch of the X-Men.
Overall reaction to this yearās Marvel event has been somewhat muted, but the series has still sold well and interest could definitely heat up once the sides are going toe to toe. Also, Marvel is teasing that a ātruth behind Ulyssesā predictive powers stands revealed,ā which should also help kick the story into high gear.
Civil War II #5, by the team of writer Brian Michael Bendis, Marquez and Ponsor, will go on sale at stores everywhere and on digital on September 21.
