Colin Kaepernick has sent America into a deep conversation about the country itself.

The San Francisco 49ers are finding themselves in the spotlight. Whether it is for a good or bad reason remains up for interpretation.

San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick is refusing to stand for the national anthem, sighting the oppression of certain factions in the United States. The stance has become a lightning rod in America, with some having a hard time understanding a person making $19 million per year complaining about oppression.

Kaepernick says he will continue to sit until something changes. Perhaps his job description and place of employment will be the first thing to change, with rumors swirling that San Francisco could move on from him.

In other news, the Cleveland Browns have decided to cut ties with outside linebacker Paul Kruger. Kruger, 30, only had 2.5 sacks last season after posting double-digit sacks in 2014. At this juncture in his career, Kruger will mostly latch on with a contender and rotate in, giving some added pass rush. Look for the Arizona Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts to kick the tires. The release saves Cleveland more than $5 million in cap space.

Finally, the Dallas Cowboys will be getting ready to once again live without Tony Romo. Romo was injured in the third preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks, breaking a vertebrae in his back. Romo is expected to miss 6-10 weeks and will be replaced by fourth-round rookie Dak Prescott.

Prescott has been nothing short of brilliant in the preseason, lighting up both the Los Angeles Rams and Miami Dolphins. He will now get his chance to start cementing himself as the quarterback of the future, starting Week 1 against the New York Giants.

If Prescott looks great throughout the first month of the season, it could be a terrific controversy in Dallas.
