On Monday, the Milwaukee Bucks announced their re-signing of veteran forward Steve Novak who finished last season with the organization.
A knee injury held Novak out of action for a majority of his time in Milwaukee, as he only played in three games for the team last season. That being said, he is a strong veteran player who can become a strong presence for the team in the 2016-2017 season.
Novak is best-known for his ability to knock down the outside shot. He is a career 43.1 percent shooter from three-point range, with the best stretch of his career coming in two seasons with the New York Knicks from 2011-2013.
Novak has bounced around the league a bit since his time in New York, spending time with the Toronto Raptors, Utah Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder before getting traded to the Bucks in February.
Led by a core of Giannis Antetokoumpo, Jabari Parker, Khris Middleton, Greg Monroe and Michael Carter-Williams, the Bucks are a young and up-and-coming team that has a ton of upside in 2016 and beyond. However, their primary players have little big-game NBA experience.
Veteran Jason Terry was brought in as a free agent this off season to bring some veteran stability to the Bucks, and the re-signing of Novak is a move that brings similar stability.
The 33-year-old Novak hit 46.7 percent of his three-point shots last season in ten games with the Thunder and Bucks. He is also just a few seasons removed from leading the NBA in outside shooting, when he knocked down 47.2 percent of his three-point shots with the Knicks in 2011-2012.
The Bucks are not re-signing Novak to be a huge scorer who is going to make a consistent impact on the court. However, he is still a strong player who can stretch the floor and teach their young players how to succeed in the NBA.
