Teddy Bridgewater: Peyton Manning to the Minnesota Vikings?
By Dani Bostick
Is Peyton Manning about to pull a Brett Favre and play for the Minnesota Vikings?
The Teddy Bridgewater saga has provided much fodder for speculation. Was it a compound fracture? (No. It is a dislocated knee.) Were players vomiting when they saw the injury? (Also, no.)
The latest bit of Bridgewater speculation involves Peyton Manning. It wasn’t that long ago that legendary quarterback and recent Hall of Fame inductee Brett Favre un-retired and signed with the Minnesota Vikings where he contributed 4,202 passing yards and 33 touchdowns.
Will the former quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos follow in Favre’s footsteps and have one last phenomenal year (or two)? If Pro Football Talk is correct, the answer to that question is also “no.”
If you believe what you see on commercials, Peyton Manning is spending his Sunday mornings grocery shopping in his bathrobe.
Even if Manning were eager to continue his career, his last season was lackluster. Though he contributed to the Denver Broncos’ Super Bowl victory, his personal stats were disappointing, and it was clear from his wobbly spiral and Stormtrooper-like mobility in the pocket that his body was failing him on the field.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings will need to find a replacement for Teddy Bridgewater. By all accounts, his injury was season-ending. With names like Mark Sanchez and Colin Kaepernick floating around as possibilities, Peyton Manning does seem like an attractive option if he gets tired of his new Sunday morning routine.
