WWE rumors: Randy Orton vs Brock Lesnar rematch set?
By Matt Couden
In the latest WWE rumors, it looks like a rematch will go down between Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar in September.
After a SummerSlam match that left Randy Orton a bloody mess, it appears The Viper will be getting a rematch with Brock Lesnar. The news was announced on Monday by the WWE, saying it would take place at a live event in late September.
The WWE reported on Aug. 29 that the two ring titans will clash at a Sept. 24 live event. It will take place at Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois. A 7:30 p.m. local start time is advertised with Seth Rollins also shown in the image along with Orton and Lesnar.
Also shown on the event page under “Featured Superstars” are Roman Reigns, former WWE Women’s Champion Sasha Banks and the new WWE Universal Champion, Kevin Owens. Banks is currently on the injury list, so to speak, healing from some minor injuries. She should be able to participate in the Illinois event.
As for Orton and Lesnar, these two had the main event match at SummerSlam. “The Conqueror” Brock Lesnar gained the upper hand and beat Orton until he was bleeding profusely. Lesnar did more damage after the match stopped. “The Beast” won via TKO leaving the Viper needing a good number of stitches in his forehead.
That match also led to Shane McMahon hitting the ring to tell Lesnar to knock it off, which resulted in Shane getting an F5 courtesy of Lesnar. Brock had to pay a $500 fine from Commissioner Stephanie McMahon, since he is a member of her Raw roster. Now, Orton gets a chance to get revenge on Lesnar. However, one has to wonder if something else is in the works.
