With quarterback Teddy Bridgewater done for the year, the Minnesota Vikings must scramble to find his replacement before the season opener.

Vikings’ quarterback Teddy Bridgewater’s third year was supposed to be his breakout campaign. The former Louisville Cardinal made strides in 2015, statistically improving in every category from his rookie season.

But the NFL hasn’t earned the ‘Not For Long’ moniker for nothing. The direction of a franchise can change with one snap. On Tuesday, Aug. 30, the team announced that Bridgewater had torn his ACL and dislocated his knee during Vikings’ practice.

The injury is especially distressing for Vikings fans, with their season opener against the Tennessee Titans less than two weeks away. Adding to that, the list of potential replacements for Bridgewater doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.

Let’s rank five potential replacements for the injured QB, from bad to…less bad.

5. Mike Vick

Mike Vick at his best, many, many years ago, was spectacular. He was the prototype for the quarterback of the future. Vick did things on an NFL football field you’d only seen before playing Madden.

This is not the Michael Vick of today. While he did an adequate job filling in for Ben Roethlisberger last season (before going down with his own injury), Vick is the only player on this list who isn’t even in an NFL camp right now.

Vick hasn’t been a day 1 starter since 2013 with the Eagles, and he only played seven games that season. With his athletic gifts, Vick is always a threat to catch lightening in a bottle in stretches. Age and inactivity makes it a longshot at this point.
