Tennessee defensive back Cam Sutton laid out for this insane interception on Thursday night against Appalachian State

The Tennessee Volunteers are coming into the 2016 college football season as one of the teams many are picking for the College Football Playoff, but they’re not off to the best start in vindicating those claims. Thursday night they opened at home against Appalachian State of the Sun Belt Conference, and they were actually down 13-3 at the half. There were stunned folks all over Neyland Stadium, but Cam Sutton eased their minds in the second half just a bit.

Sutton eased their minds because he pulled off what may be one of the plays from this opening weekend that will be remembered the rest of the season.

Appalachian State was driving in the second half to try and extend their shocking lead, and quarterback Taylor Lamb dropped back to throw down the right sideline. He thought that he had a wide open man, but he forgot to account for the fact that Sutton was in the area.

What ended up happening was Sutton laid out for this ridiculous pick to give the Volunteers the ball back.

Now that play right there was just a thing of beauty, and that’s the talent that Sutton brings to the table. There’s a very good chance that this won’t be the last time that we see him make a play like this during the season.

What makes it even better is the fact that in the first half, he actually muffed a punt that, a play that eventually brought on an App State touchdown.

But after this play, it’s pretty safe to say that Sutton is vindicated and he now has breathed new life into his team.
