Reports have surfaced of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 phones catching fire while charging, leading to millions of them being pulled from stores.

When the Apple iPhone came onto the scene, it dominated the Technology market for a long time. But Samsung’s Galaxy phones have proven to be a solid competitor in recent years. When the Note 7 was announced, it came with tons of innovative features, such as being able to work underwater, a gif creator, and the ability to lock and unlock it through a retina scan.

While it was only unveiled a month ago, a ton of their models have been pulled from stores. As CNN reports, the Note 7 has a battery issue — five different people have claimed their phone has caught fire while charging. Considering one of the phone’s main features is that it works underwater, that’s pretty ironic.

Samsung has offered a free replacement to all 2.5 million customers who have bought a Note 7. However, that process will take up to two weeks. This recall comes at a terrible time for Samsung, since Apple is going to unveil the new iPhone model next week, and in this day and age, nobody can survive without a smartphone for two weeks. Despite how fiercely loyal their customers can be, if they’re impatient enough, they might just defect to the new iPhone.

Next: Samsung calls out Apple for removing headphone jack

Of course, the new iPhone has some problems of its own, namely that it doesn’t have a headphone jack. Samsung even called out Apple over this problem, but clearly, they had problems of their own to worry about.

Perhaps the reason their product has failed is because they focused too much on Apple’s failures. And since everyone loves a good technology beef, it’ll only be a matter of time before Apple releases a statement of their own.
