Kevin Durant got a big ol’ tattoo of Rick James’ face this weekend

Kevin Durant has a lot of tattoos. Like, a LOT of tattoos, which is cool. The most recent addition to his collection of body art, however, left a lot of social media users feeling some sort of way.

On Saturday, tattoo artist Steve Wiebe snapped a picture of the Golden State Warriors superstar sitting patiently as Wiebe finished up his latest masterpiece: an enormous inking of Rick James’ face on Durant’s left leg.

That’s the same leg that also bears an equally detailed tat of Tupac Shakur – which Durant had done earlier this summer. You can check out the image – which appears on Wiebe’s Instagram profile – below:

What is it with this dude and getting pictures of bygone music legends permanently inked onto his body? Not that there’s anything wrong with paying homage to musician that you admire, but this just seems excessive. Based on the reactions to Durant’s tattoo that popped up on Twitter after the image surfaced, it would appear that several people feel the same way.

As outlandish as that tattoo is, and despite how fun it would be to spend a significant amount of time roasting it, we have to acknowledge that other NBA players have gotten worse – and far more regrettable – ones in the past ten or so years. If you remember, Jason Terry proudly got a Celtics-themed tattoo (complete with the Larry O’Brien trophy) inked on his bicep after signing with Boston back in 2012.

That season, the Celtics got bounced by the Knicks in the first round of the playoffs, and Terry lost possession of his soul after that one obscene LeBron dunk. Combine those two things with the fact that Terry was traded to Brooklyn during the offseason, and I’d say THAT was the biggest waste of epidermal real estate in NBA history.

Long story short, Durant seems to be happy with his latest tattoo, and who are we to take that from him? A little light roasting here and there is fine, but ultimately, there’s not much that change his mind about his decision now.

Unless he gets tired being barraged with Chappelle’s Show references every ten seconds, that is.
