Three things we learned from Wisconsin knocking off Leonard Fournette and LSU on Saturday from Lambeau Field

The LSU Tigers entered Saturday’s matchup with the Wisconsin Badgers as the No. 5 ranked team in the country. They seemed primed to make serious noise out of the SEC West this season with Leonard Fournette leading the way. Though Fournette tried, the Tigers truly barely made a whimper on Saturday afternoon.

From the opening kickoff, this was absolutely Wisconsin’s game. Sure, it was largely a defensive struggle where both offenses had their issues. However, the Badgers controlled essentially 58 minutes of the action. It speaks to the talent of LSU that they were still able to have a chance, but they just made too many mistakes.

Subsequently, LSU got knocked off in their first game of 2016. Now there are new takeaways all around for both teams and the season in general. Here are the three biggest things we learned.

1. LSU’s Offense is in T-R-O-U-B-L-E, Trouble

Fournette is still great and he showed that in the second half as he torched Wisconsin on more than one occasion. However, Brandon Harris looked atrocious far too often. That was the big question for this LSU team entering 2016. And even if it was against a tough, talented Badgers defense, they aren’t going to be great with quarterback play like that.

2. Wisconsin’s Defense is For Real

Though you may think that this LSU offense assisted them, this Wisconsin defense can bring it. No doubt that their offense leaves something to be desired outside Corey Clement. However, the Badgers could cause some trouble in the Big Ten. When you play defense like they showed they’re capable of on Saturday, you’re a force without question.

3. The NCAA Hates Fun

Okay, so this one has very little to do with the actual game, but it has to be said. The NCAA stated for Lambeau Field’s first-ever college football game that players wouldn’t be able to do the Lambeau Leap—even when the Packers asked for special consideration. This is absolutely absurd. These players aren’t out here showing anyone up with that—they’re taking part in a time-honored tradition in the world of football. I hate this so very much.

Here’s a look at all of the action and highlights from Saturday’s matchup:

LSU obviously wants to be much better than this moving forward. However, that truly all depends on Harris and the offense. If they play like they did in Week 1, this could be a long season and the end for Les Miles.
