Minnesota Vikings trade for Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford
By John Buhler
The Minnesota Vikings are in desperate need for a 2016 starting quarterback. They have reportedly traded for Philadelphia Eagles starter Sam Bradford.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the “Minnesota Vikings are trading for [Philadelphia] Eagles’ QB Sam Bradford.” Minnesota was in need for a starting quarterback after the Teddy Bridgewater injury and have found their guy in Bradford.
Philadelphia apparently felt confident enough in No. 2 quarterback Chase Daniel to allow the Eagles front office to trade Bradford to the Vikings. Daniel starred in college for the Missouri Tigers and has spent his entire NFL career as a backup. He does have a strong working relationship with new Eagles head coach Doug Pederson from their time together with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Bradford, should he have his health, should be a strong, stop-gap quarterback for the 2016 Vikings. The former Heisman Trophy winner at Oklahoma has the luxury of being able to hand the ball off to fellow Sooner Adrian Peterson this fall.
Bradford is little more than a game manager at this stage of his NFL career, but that’s really all Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer will need this fall. Zimmer has completely revamped the Vikings defense in two seasons in Minneapolis.
What Minnesota gave up for Bradford is a bit steep. USA Today Sports’ Tom Pelissero released the terms of the trade. To land Bradford, the Vikings have to give up their 2017 first-round pick and an additional pick coming in 2018.
Knowing that the Dallas Cowboys would have waiver wire priority over the Vikings to land a free agent quarterback, Minnesota took a big gamble in what appears to be one year of Bradford in Minneapolis.

It’s Super Bowl or bust in Minnesota with a great Zimmer defense and the best tailback in the game in Peterson. The biggest question is if Bradford can stay healthy for what could be an exciting season of Vikings football.
