Georgia Bulldogs running back Nick Chubb gets into the end zone for the first time since tearing multiple ligaments in his knee in early October 2015.
The Georgia Bulldogs get a huge boost to their offense in 2016, as star junior running back Nick Chubb returns to the gridiron for the first time since tearing multiple ligaments in his knee versus the Tennessee Volunteers back on October 15th, 2016.
Chubb was medically cleared to play in Georgia’s Week 1 neutral-site opener versus the ACC’s North Carolina Tar Heels in late July, but few knew much of a workload new Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart was going to put on Chubb’s plate.
Early in the first quarter against North Carolina, Smart called Chubb’s No. 27 a ton, as he led the Bulldogs to the first score of the game. Chubb got into the end zone for the first time with a two-yard touchdown run on third and one deep in North Carolina territory.

With Georgia not having Chubb’s primary backup Sony Michel at full strength thanks to a broken hand, the Bulldogs need Chubb to be effective early on in the 2016 NCAA season to have any shot of navigating their tough schedule.

Georgia has a tough Week 1 matchup in ACC power North Carolina, a Week 3 road date in Oxford with the Ole Miss Rebels, and a crucial Week 5 home date versus the rival Tennessee Volunteers. With Chubb back at full strength, things are looking better for the Georgia offense.
