In the craziest game of college football’s opening weekend, Texas State beat Ohio in three overtimes of wacky football.

Saturday afternoon brought the true start of the college football season and the battle of the Bobcats between Texas State and Ohio.

Not only did Texas State beat Ohio in three overtimes, 56-54, there were three scores in the final 51 final seconds of the fourth quarter before the overtime period even began.

Would you believe me if I said this game was a five-point game at 21-16 after three quarters?

Ohio used a 75-yard touchdown on a tunnel screen to quickly give themselves a 38-35 lead after a Texas State touchdown.

Texas State came right back with a game-tying field goal after the Ohio catch-and-run to force the first overtime.

After both teams exchanged touchdowns in the first and second overtimes, Texas State got the ball in the third overtime. For those that don’t know or forgot, in the third overtime of a college game, you have to go for two after a touchdown.

Texas State shut the game down in the third overtime with their possession. How about a double pass for a score and then scoring the two-pointer?

Ohio would score on their possession in the overtime, but were snuffed out on their two-point attempt to extend the game to a fourth overtime session.

All in all, the game saw nine scores (73 combined points) in just the final 51 seconds of regulation and the three overtimes and over 1,000 yards of combined total offense. It’s called the Fun Belt and MACtion for a reason, folks.
