North Carolina Tar Heels’ TJ Logan gets the second half in Atlanta under way with a kickoff return for a touchdown versus the Georgia Bulldogs in Atlanta.

Down 14-10 at the half of the 2016 Chick-Fil-A Kickoff in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, the North Carolina Tar Heels needed to make some noise early in the second half to take back control of the Georgia Bulldogs.

It only took one play, as North Carolina’s TJ Logan returned the second half’s kickoff for a marvelous touchdown. Logan’s run put North Carolina up 17-14 with the converted point after attempt.

It was North Carolina’s second touchdown on the day. New starting quarterback Mitch Trubisky scored on a bootleg inside of the red zone in the first half for the Tar Heels’ first points. North Carolina would eat at Georgia’s touchdown lead with a field goal as time expired in the first half.

Being able to win on special teams could prove pivotal for the Tar Heels in this close game with the Bulldogs in Atlanta. North Carolina and Georgia are in the midst of a intense defensive battle, preferring to move the chains on the ground rather than through the air.

Getting seven points before their opponent’s offense can even take the field has to be huge for North Carolina in this tight ACC/SEC game in Atlanta. Georgia has new starters in both areas of the kicking game. North Carolina seems to be more polished in the third phase than Georgia. It could very well be the difference in this neutral-site game between College Football Playoff dark horses.
