Texas defeats Notre Dame, 50-47: Shane Buechele highlights
The Texas Longhorns beat Notre Dame and freshman quarterback Shane Buechele played a significant role in it.
Nobody expected the Texas Longhorns to beat Notre Dame in Week One. Even though home field advantage favored the Longhorns, Notre Dame came into the game nationally ranked. Thanks to some heroics from unexpected sources, the Longhorns won their biggest game in recent years by beating Notre Dame. Freshman quarterback Shane Buechele played a significant role in the win.
Buechele, the son of a former Major League Baseball player, split playing time with fourth year quarterback Tyrone Swoopes. The two quarterbacks went in and out of the game, even switching during drives. However, it was Buechele who came out looking the best of the two quarterbacks. Going forward, Texas might have no choice but to start Buechele.
Buechele finished the game with 280 passing yards. He threw for two touchdowns, completing 16 of his 26 passes. For a freshman quarterback, Buechele was confident and poised. His lone interception wasn’t a terrible one, as the cause of it was a tip.
