Texas quarterback Tyrone Swoopes blew up a cameraman on the sideline after scoring a touchdown on Sunday against Notre Dame

Charlie Strong made headlines ahead of the Texas Longhorns, predictably, regarding his starting quarterback. The head coach elected to roll with freshman Shane Buechele rather than senior Tyrone Swoopes. However, it only took until midway through the first half for Swoopes to get into the game. And when he did, he made an immediate impact.

Primarily with his work out of the read option, Swoopes moved the ball with ease. Though he split snaps on the drive with Buechele, the senior seemed like he was having the most success on the first drive he saw in 2016. Even still, Buechele capped it off with a score. However, Swoopes would be able to get his on the next drive. After getting stuffed at the goal line a few times, the quarterback called his own number.

Swoopes ran a simple sweep to the right sideline and great blocking allowed him to take the edge easily. He sprinted across the goal line, through the end zone, and over to the sideline. When he got to the sideline, though, he came right into a cameraman and absolutely leveled the man with the equipment:

If Strong isn’t going to start Tyrone Swoopes at quarterback, perhaps at strong safety. Sure, this hit is on an unsuspecting cameraman. However, he absolutely laid the lumber on said cameraman.

Buechele and Swoopes seem to operate and compliment each other quite well in their first game-action together. While quarterbacks by committee are treacherous, this tandem might actually be successful going forward. If that’s the case, watch out if you have a camera on the sideline; Swoopes is coming for you.
