Apple releases their new phones with staggered pricing based on the device’s storage. Looking back, we can guess the iPhone 7 cost ahead of time.
Let’s cut to the chase: iPhones are expensive. Apple knows their phones are some of the sleekest and most powerful devices on the market. Therefore, they aren’t afraid to sell them with a price tag that reflects this.
Last year, the iPhone 6s (and 6s Plus) debuted. A lot of factors contribute to the price of the new devices, like service carrier, contract terms, or storage size of the phone. With a two-year contract, the iPhone 6s started at $199 for a 16 GB model. For another $100, users could get a 64 GB model. Likewise, storage doubled to 128 GB for $399.
However, to purchase the iPhone without a contract, the total price ran close $1,000. Carriers are smart enough to offer competitive monthly plans instead with costs starting at around $27-30. Further, Apple has an upgrade program of its own. Currently, the iPhone 6s is available for $649 or $32.41/month. The iPhone 6s Plus starts at $749 or $36.58/month.
With this in mind, we can assume the iPhone 7 cost will be around the same. Upon its debut, the iPhone 7 will have similar pricing plans, with the exception of an added storage tier — 256 GB.
Many expect Apple to remove the 16 GB option altogether to accommodate the larger storage scale. If this is true, we can assume the iPhone 7 might be a little pricier than its predecessors.
Perhaps, the iPhone 7 cost may look something like this:
- 32 or 64 GB – $699
- 128 GB – $799
- 256 GB – $899
Also, keep in mind that the iPhone 7 Plus will cost even more. It’s larger and expected to feature a dual-lens camera. If some of the rumors are correct, the iPhone 7 will also contain the largest processor Apple has ever put in an iPhone — 3 GB Ram.
Fortunately, several retailers offer deals to consumers for buying an iPhone from them. In many cases, pre-ordering a device has its merits, too. For the most part, you’ll want to buy the iPhone 7 from your service carrier. Or if you’re looking to switch providers, now’s a great time to shop plans and discounts for the iPhone 7. You simply have to understand your needs and data usage.

For example, don’t go for a 256 GB iPhone 7 Plus if you don’t do anything media-orientated or do a lot of web-surfing outside of your home. You can save yourself several hundred dollars up front by buying the entry-level iPhone 7 on a monthly payment plan.
