There are a few things to take into account regarding the Arizona Cardinals offense. First is the age of Larry Fitzgerald. The perennial Pro Bowler will be 34 years old at the start of the 2017 season. Dangerous territory for sudden drops in production.
Then there is the fact that Michael Floyd, their No. 2 guy will be a free agent. That presents a lot of risk for the team in losing some of the potency in its passing attack. For that reason it’s logical to expect they seek a solution in the draft.
If that solution turns out to be Corey Davis, then Arizona will have once again shown their aptitude for plucking quality talent from unexpected places. It’s not often that top NFL prospects come out of Western Michigan, but Davis could be the exception.
The 6-foot-3 receiver has quality speed to stretch the field along with an advanced knowledge in route running. This makes him a plug-and-play type who would be able to contribute immediately. Even if he doesn’t, his arrival would at least settle the long-term security at the position.
