Cam Newton injury update: Panthers QB leaves opener vs Broncos
By Jack Crosby
Panthers quarterback Cam Newton left the game in the third quarter against the Broncos with an injury
If there is one thing that the Carolina Panthers do not ever want to see, it’s an injury to the face of the franchise, Cam Newton. Well, in the third quarter against the Denver Broncos on Thursday night, they unfortunately got that.
In the third quarter of the opener against the Broncos, Newton dropped back to pass and he was sacked by DeMarcus Ware. From there, he was tangled up as he went to the ground, and was noticeably limping when he arose from the ground.
He would go to the sidelines, but it did not look good at all from the reports.
It appears to be a leg injury if some sort, which for a quarterback like Newton is not something that can be taken lightly. He already has one rushing touchdown in this game against the Broncos, and there are certainly more that are planned on this season.
Newton is the reigning MVP and he’s the lifeblood of this Panthers organization. Without him running the offense, there’s no telling what could happen to this team the rest of the way if he’s lost for a substantial amount of time.
Of course, as more is known about this injury to the Panthers quarterback in the opener, we will be sure to keep you updated.
Update: Newton would go to the sidelines for evaluation, and after walking the leg injury off on the sideline, he would return to the game, seemingly fine for now.
But there’s no doubt that a lot of Panthers fans were out there panicking.
