Miami Dolphins vs. Seattle Seahawks

The Miami Dolphins are making a trek across the country to begin the season. Their first game under Adam Gase will not be an easy one at all either. The Dolphins are tasked with having to go on the road and play the Seattle Seahawks. While they are big underdogs, it should be an interesting game between two teams with contrasting styles.

Keys to Victory

For the Miami Dolphins, the biggest key to winning is getting pressure on Russell Wilson. The Seahawks’ offensive line is unproven and there are a lot of skeptics about their ability. With names like Ndamukong Suh, Cameron Wake and Mario Williams, the Seahawks’ offensive line is going to have its work cut out for them.

For the Seahawks, it’s about developing a consistency on the ground game. Pete Carroll isn’t just going to feed every touch to Thomas Rawls. The team has built a nice little stable of running backs and the team is going to have to be able to move the ball on the ground.

If they can get out and running, that will allow Russell Wilson the chances he needs passing the ball. Everyone knows he’s going to be out on the run anyway because of the way he plays, but if he gets the time, he will make the big plays. Lastly, Ryan Tannehill is going to have to manage a hostile crowd and the toughest place to play in football. It will be interesting to see how Gase helps him in that regard.

Betting Odds

As expected, the Dolphins are sizeable underdogs at +10.5. However, that might be intriguing to gamblers for a couple of reasons. The Seahawks occasionally start slow in September and their offensive line is going to need time to adjust. If the Dolphins can take advantage of that, then they’ll give themselves a chance.

Prediction

The points spread is a big one, but this game is going to be a close one. The Dolphins are going to put up a great fight because of their defensive front against Seattle. However, it’s Russell Wilson that is going to make a timely pass to Doug Baldwin to give his team the win. Don’t be surprised to see Tyler Lockett make a big play as well.

Pick: Seahawks 24, Dolphins 20
