Thomas Davis Sr. picks off Trevor Siemian (Video)
Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis Sr. made an incredible interception against the Denver Broncos on Thursday night.
The Carolina Panthers’ defense came out with a mission on Thursday night. With an inexperienced quarterback starting, the Panthers made the Broncos pay early on. After forcing rookie running back Devontae Booker to fumble, the Panthers then made another huge defensive stand against the Broncos. With Trevor Siemian dropping back, the Panthers brought the pass rush.
As Siemian tried to get rid of the ball, defensive tackle Star Lotulelei tipped the ball in the air and Thomas Davis Sr. was able to make a great interception. It was an athletic play from the big man and the veteran voice of the defense.
In his time with the Panthers, Davis Sr. has always tried to lead by example and making big plays like that help the rest of the defense out. To get two turnovers early on the road was a great start for Carolina. It was also a reminder that their defense is one that’s going to dominate this season.
Siemian really didn’t have much of a choice, but he was probably better off taking the sack. Sometimes it’s better to take the hit instead of just giving the ball to the defense.
