Making its debut on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986, The Legend of Zelda series is a pivotal piece of why the video game industry is so successful today. Throughout the years, Nintendo has created numerous masterpieces, and almost each and very Zelda game just so happens to be one of those.

When The Legend of Zelda first released, it took the video game scene by storm. It all started with a young boy named Link and his journey to save Princess Zelda. This set the tone for many games in the future and in other games in the series, you see just how different each one may be. But, they all stay true to the core of the story, which is something incredible to see.

A new video, released by the YouTube Channel BetterOR, focuses on a key concept in most Zelda games. For every home console game, each one has a different and unique graphic style that offers an entirely new visual setting and experience.

This video is a great way to see how the games have graphically evolved throughout the years and it’s also a testament as to how far they’ve come.

It all started on the NES with The Legend of Zelda. If you look at it now, the graphics aren’t that impressive, but it was definitely a product of its time. When this was released in the 1980s, this was a mind blowing gaming experience and it was something that many people had not seen before.

Skip over to a few years later, and you have games like Link’s Awakening and A Link to the Past. Each of these games are similar when it comes to graphics, but they’re also unique in their own way.

The biggest change was when Ocarina of Time was released on the Nintendo 64 in 1998. Widely considered the best game of all-time till this day, Ocarina of Time revolutionized the gaming industry with not only its gameplay, but the graphical improvements.

It’s amazing to see how far this franchise has come. With games like The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword each delivering an awesome gaming experience along with killer and unique visuals, Nintendo continues to set the tone with their innovation. We can’t wait to see what they do with Breath of the Wild.
