Here’s how to watch Saturday’s non-conference matchup between the SMU Mustangs and Baylor Bears.
The No. 23 Baylor Bears will look to move to 2-0 with a win over the SMU Mustangs on Saturday evening at McLane Stadium.
Baylor had little trouble in its first game under new head coach Jim Grobe with a 55-7 victory over FCS Northwestern State. Seth Russell tossed four touchdown passes in limited action while Baylor held the Demons to just 78 total yards.
The Bears retain plenty of talent on offense outside of Russell and should put up huge numbers against the Mustangs. Running back Shock Linwood piled up over 1,300 yards in 2015 and will need to pick up some slack with fellow 1,000 yard rusher Johnny Jefferson out with a foot injury.
SMU picked up a 34-21 road win over North Texas in its season opener after racing out to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter. Courtland Sutton caught four passes for 162 yards and three touchdowns to lead the young and talented Mustangs offense.
Second-year head coach Chad Morris rose to fame following a terrific stint as Clemson’s offensive coordinator, and he has some interesting pieces to utilize in 2016. Quarterback Matt Davis has had excellent stretches over the past year and a half, and recorded over 1,000 rushing yards last season.

Despite a complete upheaval of the program in the offseason, the Bears are still in contention for the Big 12 title in 2016 and figure to breeze through their nonconference schedule. Morris is doing a good job rebuilding SMU so far, but is still likely a year away from bowl contention or seriously challenging a team like Baylor.
