Philadelphia Eagles defense

The Browns may have a decent quarterback now in Robert Griffin III. However, their offense still needs work. Griffin looked good in the preseason, but fantasy owners who can start the Eagles defense should certainly do so.

Neither of these teams are going to find their way into the postseason. That said, Philadelphia could prey upon a Browns’ offense that is just starting to rebuild. It’s a home game and a chance for a rare win, which may be hard for the team to come by this season.

In 2014, the Eagles had the top defense in many fantasy football environments. Last year, they finished outside of the top 12 defenses.

Among the defensive stars for Philadelphia are Fletcher Fox and Malcolm Jenkins. The team also brought in Jim Schwartz for this season as the new defensive coordinator. Schwartz has been impressive as he’s helped construct great fantasy defenses in both Detroit and Buffalo. Of those, the Bills led the league in sacks in 2014 and also ranked third amongst fantasy defenses.

This game has one of the lowest over/under totals of all games on the board for Week 1. That clearly shows that odds makers believe it will be a low-scoring affair at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday afternoon. While Wentz may have rookie jitters, RG3 may also still be shaking off some rust as the Eagles try to get to him often. Fantasy owners who can use the Eagles defense in their league format should certainly start it for Week 1.
