Central Michigan pulled off one of the most improbable finishes in college football history in their upset win over Oklahoma State.

Just when you think you’ve seen it all, you see something you never thought you’d see. The Week 2 schedule of college football paled in comparison to the “best opening week ever” but Central Michigan delivered an ending we’ll never forget.

Central Michigan battled Oklahoma State all game and led in the fourth quarter before a James Washington touchdown put the Cowboys on top 27-24 with 5:12 left. The game looked all but over when Oklahoma State had the ball in the closing seconds and the Pokes offense on the field.

But then things got crazy.

Mason Rudolph tried to throw the ball away to burn the clock but was called for intentional grounding. This was an officiating error that never should have happened to give Central Michigan the ball. Central Michigan the ball and one untimed down with zero seconds remaining on the game clock the Chippewas had the ball 51 yards from the end zone. Now, this is where the magic happens.

Central Michigan quarterback Cooper Rush dropped back to pass and he unleashed a Hail Mary and his prayer was answered. But this wasn’t your conventional Hail Mary if such a thing exists.

The ball was caught by Jesse Kroll at the 9-yard line but he was about to be tackled short of the goal line so he lateraled the ball to Malik Fountain who darted across the field for the game-winning score.
