Dele Alli and Harry Kane have struggled at the start of the 2015-16 Premier League season. They seem to have found their form against Stoke.

Tottenham had looked a little short on attacking ideas to start the new season. They were unbeaten heading into this weekend’s match against Stoke, but had only scored three goals and were generally struggling to create a lot of good chances.

That seems to have changed against Stoke. Spurs have dominated from start to finish Son Heung-min scored the first two goals, but the best news for Tottenham fans will be that Harry Kane and Dele Alli both opened their accounts for the season.

The game was essentially over, but it will be a nice boost for Alli, who has received some criticism after a slow start. He was also dropped from England’s starting XI by new manager Sam Allardyce, though he did come on as a substitute against Slovakia.

Kane got on the scoresheet as well. He has never scored a Premier League goal in August, but found the back of the net in his first club game in September. The goal was his 50th in the Premier League.

This is all excellent news for Tottenham, but Stoke have completely collapsed. Manager Mark Hughes was sent off in the first half and his team have showed almost no resistance since falling behind.

This was supposed to be the season the Potters finally pushed towards the European places, but if their start to this season is any indication, they aren’t ready to make the step up. They are well on their way to their third loss of the season, and look set to remain at the very bottom of the table.

Tottenham move on to eight points with the win, and have not yet lost a game. They look well placed to make another run to Champions League places.
