Another fog machine makes another college football team look dumb in 2016. This time, the fog machine victims were the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Week 2.

Fog machines are winning in the first part of the 2016 college football season. Last week, the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers struggled to get out of the tunnel in the Week 1 home opener versus the Rice Owls.

In Week 2, the Big 12’s No. 22 Oklahoma State Cowboys had players falling to the ground via fog machine versus the Central Michigan Chippewas.

Admittedly, this wasn’t anywhere near as bad as the multi-player pile-up for Western Kentucky last week, but this is a top 25 team in the nation we’re talking about. Now that the arch rival Oklahoma Sooners have a loss on the season, one could argue that the Cowboys are the deepest team in the Big 12 in 2016.

The Cowboys have been a 10-plus win program annually under head coach Mike Gundy for the last decade. Oklahoma State played in the Allstate Sugar Bowl last holiday season and should have another great season with Mason Rudolph at quarterback.

However, not even getting the pre-game introduction isn’t a great sign for a top 25 program. Sure, Oklahoma State is handling the Chippewas early in this Week 2 game, but one has to believe that the Cowboys are done with fog machines this season.

One has to wonder which team is going to mess up the fog machine intro next week. Vision is apparently extremely important for helmeted 20-years-old in the college game. Going straight forward in a slight jog through fog has never been more difficult than at the start of 2016.

The shame in these two pre-game incidents is that these are two of the better 50 programs in Division I football. Western Kentucky does nothing but throw for a ton of yards since moving to Division I a few years ago. Oklahoma State could make the third annual College Football Playoff.
