Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane scored two quick goals as they kept the pressure on Leicester City all throughout the first half.

Hiring Jurgen Klopp has proven to be the best decision Liverpool have made in years. They’re not immediate title contenders, at least not while Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola are in the Premier League, but their style of play is much more improved from their time under Brendan Rodgers.

While their best win this season has been against Arsenal, they played some breathless football in the first half against Leicester. The defending Premier League champions had no response, as Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane got them off to a quick start:

Klopp proved during his time with Borussia Dortmund that he can make the most of limited resources. In his first season with Liverpool, they nearly won captured the League Cup but lost to Manchester City. And while they’ve been inconsistent to start the Premier League season, a win over Leicester would get their season back on track.

When Liverpool almost won the Premier League in 2013-14, they did so by scoring at an absurdly high rate. Luis Suarez almost carried them to the title, and made Daniel Sturridge look world-class in the process. While there’s no way they can replace his individual progress, Klopp’s Gegenpressing is the best way they can get back to that blitzing attacking play.

Liverpool do have noticeable holes, particularly on defense — Lucas Leiva gifted a goal to Jamie Vardy. If they can fix their defense through the transfer window, while continuing to strengthen their attack, Liverpool can become a real title contender in a few years.
