After toppling Notre Dame in Week 1, the Texas Longhorns have now vaulted to No. 11 in the college football polls. Now they’re level of competition will dip in Week 2. The UTEP Miners make the in-state trip to Austin, TX on Saturday evening to take on the Longhorns at Royal Texas Memorial Stadium.
Texas expected big things from true freshman quarterback Shane Buechele coming into Week 1. He was named the starter by Charlie Strong, but who could have predicted how he’d deliver. The youngster looked like a star in the making, without question. Combining him and Tyrone Swoopes as dueling banjos at quarterback makes this Longhorns team a force. That force shouldn’t be stopped in UTEP vs Texas.
UTEP will be led by junior running back Aaron Jones. The junior eclipsed 240 yards on the ground in the Miners’ opener. He found the end zone twice in that game, but UTEP will be looking for a much bigger win when they go on the road on Saturday.
