Cowboys lose because Terrance Williams didn’t go out of bounds

ARLINGTON, TX - SEPTEMBER 11: Terrance Williams

All the Dallas Cowboys needed to win was a field goal, but the game ended once Terrance Williams didn’t go out of bounds.

If there was one Dallas Cowboys player who was dependable all throughout the game, it was Dan Bailey. He is one of the best kickers in the NFL, and was already four-for-four, including a made field goal from 56 yards.

With the Cowboys trailing 20-19, all they needed to win was a field goal. Considering how automatic Bailey was already, they didn’t need to get as far down the field as other teams might require. With no timeouts, Terrance Williams extended the drive by catching a pass, but made the critical mistake of not stepping out of bounds.

As you can see, he tried to run straight towards the end zone rather than stop the clock, but he was met immediately by New York Giants defenders. Dez Bryant was even trying to direct him to the sidelines, but Williams was having none of it.

Terrance Williams is sure to get trashed over this by Cowboys fans. Depending on how severe it gets, the team might have to shut him down for a few weeks. He shouldn’t go out in public either. In fact, he should probably get a couple of Dallas PD officers to patrol some bodyguards outside of his house for precautionary measures.

The Cowboys and Giants are fierce rivals who are no strangers to meeting on Week 1. While the Cowboys got the better of them last year courtesy of an incredible Tony Romo comeback, the Giants prevailed this time thanks to Terrance Williams’ idiocy. Cowboys fans could also point to the Dez Bryant catch in the end zone that was ruled incomplete upon further review. There will certainly be no shortage of excuses from Cowboys Nation in the wake of this loss.
