FanDuel MLB: Picks and Pivots for September 12
Welcome to the Monday edition of Picks & Pivots, a daily fantasy baseball column focused on providing analysis and insights into the top FanDuel MLB lineups. The purpose of this column is to first identify key building blocks that can be used for any roster construction and then identify pivot points to help differentiate your lineup in hopes of a big payday!

Monday’s MLB schedule kicks off at 7:05PM EST with a full 15 game FanDuel MLB slate!
I will continue to track winning Tournament lineups and compare trends over 5 day periods to help us understand what it takes to remain profitable. I HIGHLY recommend each of you do this each morning to look back on the previous night and understand how the winning lineups are constructed in the games you participate in.

I highly recommend gamers track their game performance across the various types of games they play – GPP’s, Cash, Multipliers etc – as this simple exercise will help teach you more about profitable roster construction than you can imagine.
Next: Who is the top pitching option on Monday's Slate?
Looking over the Monday FanDuel MLB slate, the options at the top of pricing spectrum frankly seem over priced relative to their recent form and match up. With no clear-cut match up to target, dropping down at starting pitcher will allow you to roll out a stud lineup across all formats.
Jeff Samardzija ($8,100) may be a risky pick, but the match up art home against the San Diego Padres is one I feel he can exploit for a big time DFS score!
Samardzija comes into this game as one of the largest favorites on the board (-230) putting him in line for the 12 point FanDuel win but has also flashed the upside to contend with higher priced arms.
Samardzija was not effective in his last start against San Diego, but in his previous two starts he was able to capture 50 and 57 FanDuel points which reflects the kind of upside he has in this spot.
The Giants RHP is typically a better pitcher at home and although he is one of the riskier options on the slate, I would feel comfortable using him as a top GPP option.

Arizona at home versus LHP Tyler Anderson: Anytime the Diamondbacks are at home they make for one of the best offenses to target, and with a left-hander on the hill for the visiting Rockies we should be able to stack the right-handed heavy Arizona bats.
Paul Goldschmidt ($3,700) at home against a lefty is DFS 101 and frankly I was shocked his price sat below $4k in this spot. Anderson has been able to limit hard contact to RHB so far this season but Arizona is one of the best offenses against LHP and I will happily take the price discount from FanDuel here.
Goldschmidt, Welington Castillo ($2,900) & Yasmany Tomas ($2,700) all have .400 wOBA and .580+ slugging percentages against LHP this season and make for a surprisingly cost-effective stack in this spot.
In the same game, do not over look the Colorado Rockies left-handed bats against Shelby Miller who has given up a 40% hard contact rate to LHB with a .415 wOBA.
Carlos Gonzalez ($4,000) & Charlie Blackmon ($4,200) are the top two targets and with Miller’s inability to limit damage to left-handed bats I intend to make them by top two hitting targets that will hopefully go overlooked outside of Coors!
