NFL DFS Week 1 Picks: Top FanDuel Lineups

As promised I’m back to help with your NFL DFS Week 1 Picks so you can win some cash in daily fantasy football!  Week 1 of the NFL is already upon us as the Denver Broncos made it 2 in a row against the Carolina Panthers with their 21-20 victory on Thursday night.  CJ Anderson (who I have in our FantasyCPR contributors League) led the way for the Broncos as he had 1 rushing and 1 receiving TD to be the Fantasy Star of the game.

I’m rolling with this Cash game lineup that I will share with you and as promised, I will give you 1 GPP lineup that I will use this Sunday.  All lineups that I am giving are strictly for Fanduel.  Let’s get to it.

I will have those lineups in a contest this Sunday on Fanduel.  Now, let’s talk about the thought process behind them.

Top FanDuel Cash Game Lineup

Remember from earlier articles about how to build your lineups for certain games you play?  This is a prime example of what I was talking about.  In my cash lineup I went with Matthew Stafford.  He is in a great spot here and should be able to throw it at will against the beat up Colts secondary.  I expect him to have a decent amount of ownership and throw for over 300 yds and at least 2 TD’s.

Spencer Ware falls into that category as well, he is likely starting for Jamal Charles, and he tore it up against San Diego last year.  Adrian Peterson will get all the carries he wants against the Tennessee Titans with Shaun Hill running the offense.  He could easily have 25 touches in this game.  Marvin Jones fits that bill as well.  He could be the highest owned WR in cash games.  He gets a great match up against a horrible Colts defense, Stafford likes to throw it all over the place, and this game has a chance to have a total in the 60’s.

Julio Jones is the one player I will be consistently paying up for.  He plays against the extremely small secondary of the Buccaneers, and I’m not sure who is going to guard him.  If Tampa happens to put Brent Grimes on Julio, he is going to have a monster day.  I finally got a piece of the Raiders and Saints game by adding Brandin Cooks.  This will be a high scoring affair and getting Cooks at home is a great get.

Reed at TE has a tasty matchup against a weak Steeler secondary, and he is Cousins’ favorite target.  Finally with Kicker I went with Kai Forbath who should see plenty of action against Oakland, and the Rams D who have a chance to be the best fantasy D in the league this year who get the high paced San Francisco 49ers.  That lineup should get you in the top 50% of your cash game.

Remember, when you construct a lineup for a GPP, you cannot expect to win if you use players that will be highly owned.  You cannot go completely off the grid and take players that no one will own, but you must stray away from those ‘cash game players.’

At QB I am rolling with Kirk Cousins.  He is getting a weak Steelers secondary at home in what could be a higher scoring game.  I like him in this spot.  He should be low owned and needs about 22-24 points to reach 3X value.

At RB I am rolling with Eddie Lacy and David Johnson.  Lacy is primed to have a big year.  He gets a Jags defense, which looks much improved on paper, on the road in Jacksonville.  The Packer offense is fully healthy to start the year, and is in a great spot this weekend to get rolling.  David Johnson is a supreme running back and NO ONE is talking about him this week.  He gets a Patriots team that is pretty good defensively, but is really hurting on offense.  I just don’t think the Patriots will be able to score enough to keep up with the Cardinals.  This will either lead to the Cardinals using Johnson to kill the clock in the 2nd half, or use him to help them get a big lead, or both.  Johnson will be low owned because of Ware, Gurley, and AP.

More from DFS

At the WR spots Austin, Moncrief, and Julio Jones are my guys.  Tavon Austin really had great games against the 49ers last year, and with his recent contract extension I believe the Rams are finally figuring out how they want to use him in their offense with Gurley.  I like him to do well on Monday Night and possibly steal the show.

As I mentioned earlier, the Detroit and Indianapolis game has a chance to be very high scoring.  In order for that to happen, both teams must score.  On the Colts side, T.Y. Hilton will be the popular WR, but I have a feeling that Donte Moncrief will be Andrew Luck‘s favorite target in this one.  I see him getting into the end zone with 6-10 targets as well.  Finally, my dude Julio is there again.  Like I said, he is the one guy I will have the most exposure to, so take that how you want.

At the TE position, I am going totally off the grid in using Jordan Cameron but I have a few good reasons.  Miami has a new coach in Adam Gase.  He was the OC for Denver the year Manning set the passing TD record.  TE Julius Thomas had a career year that season.  Last year in Chicago, Gase had a lot of success with Martellus Bennett.  During the preseason this year Miami used Cameron in the redzone quite often, the problem with that is he dropped 2 TD passes.  He seems to have his dropsies fixed, and Miami will likely have to throw a ton on the road in Seattle as the biggest underdog in the NFL this week.  He will get his opportunities and I bellieve he will do well.  He is a matchup nightmare for any team, and NO ONE will own him.

Finally at kicker and defense, I went with Blair Walsh and the Philadelphia Eagles.  Walsh has Tennessee and will likely be busy often as Minnesota will likely run a ton in this game which could stall out drives in the Tennessee side of the field which will lead to field goals.  The Eagles get the Cleveland Browns lead by turnover prone RGIII.  I think the Eagles have an underrated front 7 which could get a few sacks and maybe force a turnover.
