DraftKings MLB Picks: Top Bargain plays for September 13th

Finding value is the ever so elusive, “Holy Grail” in Fantasy Baseball.  Making cap room for pitchers and big bats can make all the difference in a lineup. With a little elbow grease in the research department, I’m hoping to offer a handful of players that could give critical salary relief for tonight’s DraftKings MLB picks.

Tonight’s slate features 15 games, with a few teams projected to score over 5 runs. Toronto has the best team projection at 5.4 runs, followed by, Arizona (5.3), Boston (5.2), and Detroit (5.1). There aren’t a ton of elite pitching options tonight, so you may not need to go as deep in the bargain bin. Again, low stake contest should be a bit softer, as new players will be trying their hand in MLB DFS.

Josh Bell – PIT (1B/OF) – $3100

I made my way to Citizens Bank Park last night to catch one of the few Phillies wins, but tonight, I’ll be on Josh Bell as one of my top value plays. The Pirates are projected to score 4.7 runs and Bell is much better against righties, with a .400 wOBA split. If John Jaso starts at first base instead of Bell, he’ll also be in play.

Yulieski Gurriel – HOU (1B/3B) – $2600

Yulieski Gurriel is way too under priced. Gurriel has reverse splits, where he holds a .413 wOBA and a .211 ISO split against righties. Houston has a favorable projection of 4.7 runs and if Gurriel is batting 5th, he’s a steal at $2600. If you plan on getting exposure to Gurriel, roster him on DraftKings, where he’s much cheaper than on Fanduel.

Cameron Maybin – DET (OF) – $3900

Ownership should be lower on Maybin as he’s struggled of late, but I think he sets up great in a good match up against Kyle Gibson. Detroit has one of the better team projections and if Maybin continues to bat in the two hole, he should bring value.

Chris Owings – ARI (OF/SS) – $3900

Arizona should have no problem putting runs up on the Rockies tonight and Chris Owings could benefit. Owings will face the lefty, Jorge De La Rosa. Owings fares better against lefties, with a .340 wOBA and a .188 ISO split. Owings offers dual position eligibility and has some stolen base upside. Owings is more expensive on DraftKings than Fanduel, but he’ll make a solid value play on either site.
