What do we need to be watching for during Saturday evening’s Auburn vs Texas A&M matchup and when does it start?
Texas A&M opened the year unranked, somewhat of a rarity under Kevin Sumlin, but it didn’t take long for the Aggies to change that. The Aggies beat UCLA in Week 1 and have looked solid through two games, currently ranked No. 17 the nation. However, there’s a tough road contest in Week 3 to kick off SEC play.
Auburn, on the other hand, also opened the year against a ranked foe, No. 2 Clemson. The Tigers fell 19-13 at home, but showed some promise after a disappointing 2015 season. While there were positives for Auburn in the loss, it still showed that it has a ways to go before it can get back to contending for the national title.
Here are three things you should know for Saturday’s game.
1. Christian Kirk could have a big day
The top-tier receiver from Texas A&M could be in for a big day as Auburn’s secondary has struggled against the pass this year. The Tigers allowed nine catches for 174 yards in the opening game of the year against Clemson’s Mike Williams and Christian Kirk is arguably even better. He has 13 catches for 164 yards and two scores on the year and could match that in this game.
2. Trevor Knight is having a career resurgence
You might remember Trevor Knight from his days as Oklahoma’s starting quarterback and he’s made the transfer to Texas A&M as Baker Mayfield was the man to beat for the Sooners’ job. He has resurrected his career through two games, leading the Aggies past a ranked UCLA team and he has passed for 583 yards and four touchdowns.

3. Sean White can do it all for Auburn
The sophomore quarterback is starting over a couple of dual-threats who were favorites to win the job and he’s proving to be a viable starter. The Tigers’ gunslinger can run and pass, throwing for 384 yards and three touchdowns while completing 61 percent of his passes. He had 10 rushes for 60 yards in his last game against Arkansas State.
