What do we need to be watching for during Saturday afternoon’s Colorado vs Michigan matchup and when does it start?
Jim Harbaugh’s second season as the Michigan Wolverines’ head coach has gotten off to a spectacular start against inferior opponents. Michigan has out-scored Hawaii and Central Florida 114-17, but those two teams combined for a 3-22 record last season.
On the other hand, outside of releasing a hilarious depth chart ahead of Saturday’s game, the Colorado Buffaloes are looking to pull off the major upset. They might be 2-0 and have also dominated inferior opponents, but playing in Ann Arbor in front of 100,000-plus fans is slightly more intimidating than Idaho State and Colorado State
Here are three things you should know for Saturday’s game.
1. Jim Harbaugh isn’t afraid to add ‘garbage time’ points
Passing with under four minutes left in the fourth quarter, up by 37 points, Harbaugh isn’t afraid to make enemies. He will score garbage time points if he has to and that’s a major reason as to why the first two games have been so lopsided. However, this isn’t peewee football anymore, if you don’t want a team to run up the score, play defense.
2. Colorado has a better defense through two games
Can you believe this? Michigan had one of the top defenses in college football last season and was expected to be even better in 2016 with new defensive coordinator Don Brown in place, but the Wolverines have struggled with the run, allowing 178 per game on the ground. Colorado has allowed about 160 total yards per game. Granted, it’s only two games.

3. Sefo Liufau vs. Wilton Speight is actually a good matchup
A name you may not have heard is Colorado’s Sefo Liufau. He is in his fourth year as starter for the Buffaloes and is just 2,000 yards away from 10,000 in his career. He has never been to a bowl game, but he’s a surprisingly effective passer. As for Michigan’s Wilton Speight, he has surprised some folks through two games. This might be one of the most underrated quarterback matchups of Week 3.
