2017 NFL Draft: James Conner, Josh Dobbs looking good
Donnel Pumphrey: Stock up
In what could potentially be the greatest running back draft class of all-time, small school players could potentially fall to the later rounds. Once day three of the NFL Draft rolls around, one team is going to be very happy when San Diego State’s Donnel Pumphrey falls in their lap.
While not a noticeable name at a noticeable football program, Donnel Pumphrey has been an excellent running back for the San Diego State Aztecs. In his first three seasons of college football, Pumphrey rushed for over 4,000 yards and racked-up 45 touchdowns.

Last Saturday against Cal, Pumphrey rushed for 281 yards and scored four touchdowns. His amazing performance pushed him past Marshall Faulk for the most rushing yards (4,651) in school history.
Pumphrey also pushed himself to the top college football in terms of rushing yards. He leads the country with 379, which is about 80 yards more than the next running back on the list.
A key stat for Donnel Pumphrey will be fumbles. He’s fumbled 11 times in his collegiate career, but has held onto the ball so far this season. Pumphrey reminds me a bit of Ryan Mathews. The Aztecs running back always keeps his legs churning and can be both finesse and a power back.
If he can continue his dominance, Donnel Pumphrey’s name will begin to circle more NFL draft rooms.
