Falcons at Raiders: Odds, trends and more
By Brad Weiss
The latest Atlanta Falcons at Oakland Raiders odds, trends, and other information ahead of their 2016 NFL Week 2 matchup.
In a matchup of two high-powered offenses, the Atlanta Falcons will travel to Oakland to face the Raiders on Sunday. Both teams feature strong men under center, and the game will showcase two of the wide receivers in all of football. If Week 1 was any indication, expect a ton of points to be scored at O.co Coliseum on Sunday.
Sunday’s game between the two franchises will be their first meeting since October of 2012. In that game, the Falcons defeated the Raiders 23-20. In Week 2, the Raiders will be the favorite, and are coming off an improbable victory last week.
The Raiders defeated the New Orleans Saints as the underdog in Week 1, scoring 22 points in the fourth quarter en-route to a 35-34 victory. For Atlanta, they dropped their home opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week, giving up four touchdown passes to Jameis Winston. The Raiders won as an underdog, and have proven to do poorly against the spread (ATS) in games after winning in that fashion.
In their last 14 games after a victory as the underdog, the Raiders have gone 3-11 ATS.
Odds

In terms of trends, the favored team has won five of the last six meetings ATS, and the Falcons are 2-1 ATS in their last three matchups against Oakland. Atlanta comes into the game as the underdog, and has gone 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games when listed as getting points. However, the Raiders have gone 4-2 against the Falcons ATS in their last six meeting, though they are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games.

As far as betting the over/under in this game, expect the contest to go over the 49 points. The Raiders have gone over in 11 of their last 16 games, and that trend should continue on Sunday. There should be plenty of touchdowns to be had, as both defenses showed kinks in their armor in Week 1.
Take the Raiders and the over on Sunday.
