Houston Cougars quarterback Greg Ward Jr. got his team on the board early with a touchdown pass to wide receiver Chance Allen.

The Houston Cougars are taking their undefeated road record to Cincinnati on Thursday night, where the Bearcats are looking for an upset. With a chance to trip up in the schedule, it would be a huge win on national television for the Cougars. Quarterback Greg Ward Jr. tried to ease any nerves early for Houston.

Dropping back in the pocket, Ward Jr. found Chance Allen on a post toward the end zone and drilled him with a perfect pass. Ward Jr. hauled it into his jersey and the Cougars jumped out to the early lead on the road.

The Bearcats have been prone to giving teams a scare on Thursday night games before and it was important for the Houston offense to find a little bit of a flow to their game early. Although their defense gave up a touchdown on the ensuing drive, it was a good sign for their offense.

Ward Jr. is one of the best players in the country and he showed it early with the perfect pass. If this is going to be a shootout, then Ward Jr. is the perfect guy to have lined up under center.
