12. Auburn Tigers

The Auburn Tigers might have two of the best traditions in college football: The War Eagle Flight before every home game at Jordan-Hare Stadium and rolling Toomer’s Corner after every big Auburn victory.

Auburn is in a group of roughly four other Power 5 programs that we’ll call Little Brother schools. Auburn, Michigan State, Texas A&M, and UCLA can have elite teams, but their major in-state rivals are gargantuan blue-bloods that always overshadow.

Alabama’s dominance of college football hasn’t stopped War Eagle Nation from being one of the most passionate fan bases in the sport. Auburn’s annual rivalry with the Alabama Crimson Tide (The Iron Bowl) is one of the game’s premier Thanksgiving Week showdowns.

The Tigers’ disdain for the Crimson Tide makes this game must-see television every late November Saturday, regardless of either school’s national ranking. Auburn doesn’t recruit as well as Alabama does, nor do the Tigers consistently field a championship-caliber team.

One thing that Auburn does better than just about every school in the Power 5 is riding the momentum train. When Auburn has a great team, the Tigers will win 10+ games in a row. They may not have the talent of some of their competitors, but their fans are as good as anybody’s in the country.
