The New Orleans Saints will take on the New York Giants in a big 2016 NFL Week 2 matchup.
Week 2 NFL action will see a number of key matchups, including the New Orleans Saints traveling to the Big Apple to square off against the New York Giants. Sure it may only be Week 2, but this game is big for both teams. When it comes to the Giants, a good start to the season usually means a playoff berth is on the horizon. The same can be said for the Saints.
The Giants won their opener against the Cowboys 20-19, while the Saints lost to the Raiders 35-34. Eli Manning threw three touchdown passes, including the eventual game winner to Victor Cruz. Giants’ fans loving the return of the salsa end zone dance!
According to CBS Sports, Cruz has suffered injuries that have limited him to nearly no playing time over the last two seasons. To say he was excited after catching the go-ahead TD with six minutes remaining is an understatement.
”You couldn’t even describe what was going through my body,” said Cruz , who had four catches for 34 yards. ”Wanted obviously to do the dance. I’m sure I’ve got that down pat.”
On the heels of a 7-9 season in 2015, the last thing New Orleans wants to do is start the 2016 season 0-2. The Saints played well vs. the Raiders and stayed in the game thanks to Drew Brees. Brees’ 423 yards and four touchdown performance weren’t enough in the end as the Raiders squeaked out the one-point win.
If New Orleans is going to pull off the road upset, they are going to need to run the ball effectively, something that isn’t easy to do against the Giants. They have one of the best quarterbacks in Drew Brees, but the Giants have some of the best defensive backs in the game. Something’s got to give.
